I see what looks like only 1 honing job on this Puma. Do you think it was done by the maker's of the razor? It looks new.

actually i don't think you can tell how many times the razor was honed post factory if at all, and I don't know why it matters. it is either good to shave or it isn't and needs to be honed

Excellent, excellent razor and a great find. What makes you sure that it has been honed before? Because from the look of the blade and the fact that it still has the tags on it, the razor could actually be new.

The "barbas tres dure" designation is something that you don't find on many Pumas too. I don't know if it means a different grade of steel or a different grind or something else entirely, but I think it is only etched on some Pumas and definitely makes this one more desireable.

    Congrats! I'm jealous!!

No. I always give mine a dip in alcohol if a SR is not new (I have bought only one new) or if I'm working on someone elses blade. Just remember, alcohol strips ALL oils from the blade and leaves it subject to oxidation/rust. After you give it a bath (I use about a 30 second soak), oil it down all over with your favorite oil to protect it. Just wipe it down before use, petroleum can irritate the skin.

I have heard that the metal polish MAAS will take the goldwash off, so keep that in mind.

Oiling your SR will not hurt it. Just wipe it down before you strop or use it.
