Thanked: 13Dwarf Duck - worth fixing?
I bought this Dwarf Duck on eBay, and the blade has a bit of a frown and some chips near the heel:
Yfrog - 00005s
Is this worth fixing? Who does this kind of work, and what kind of $$$ is it likely to run?

Just IMO from the limited view it is certainly worth honing. If I had gotten it I would take some 0000 wool to the rust with a bit of break free or some other lubricant and maybe some high grit sandpaper following that. I would polish it with Maas or semichrome and a paper towel for a passable finish. Not mirror polished or anything like that. Then I would hone the frown and chips out of it. I personally wouldn't go for a complete restore as that would be more $ than it is worth IMO. Go to member services in the classifieds to see what honing might run.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 13This thread is making me happy. I was afraid I had been really stupid, buying that off of eBay. It may still not be as good a deal as the other two I bought, but apparently not too bad, even with the honing estimate I just got in a PM.
Hmmmm .... where do I see which honers come highly recommended?
