Looking to Upgrade
My last thread gave me quite a haul. Two awesome razors for $40? (well after the $100 to get them honed, it was more like $140). However these are starting to rust, so I'm looking at buying a brand-new razor; one to last me quite a while.
Hart Steel's razor looks wonderful; it seems so modern to me but I'd been hearing talks that it's not a real good straight. Anyone have any input to this brand, or maybe another brand to recommend?

$100 to have two razors honed seems a bit pricy, unless you shipped them around the world several times.
Regardless, if you have razors and they have rusted, buying a new razor will not solve the problem. If these two rusted than a new blade will rust too, if it is treated the same way. It sounds to me like you are not taking proper care of your razors, or they require better care. Do you dry your razors and their scales thoroughly before putting them away? Have you tried oiling your razors before putting them away?

Well today was the first time I used one of them, and I noticed the rust spots before I started shaving. I had them in our medicine cabinet in the bathroom.

Your storage is probably the problem. Bathrooms are humid places, and simply storing your razor elsewhere may solve your problems. In the mean time, depending on how bad it is, you may be able to remove the rust with metal polish and a q-tip or toothpick. If there is no rust on the edge, the razor should shave fine; if there is rust on the edge it will probably need to be rehoned.

holli4pirating was spot on that a new blade will not solve the rust issue.
While you are on the classic shaving site look for other 6/8 blades that
are less expensive. Compare, contrast then decide. So many fine razors
out there.... Valentines day is soon so a Heart might be the right choice
Pick up some mineral oil from the drug store and when you are finished shaving get in the habit of rinsing the blade in hot water, wiping it dry and then apply a thin layer of oil. No mater what blade you decide on this is a good habit to get into especially if your home environment invites rust.

+1 on previous posters. New carbon razor won't solve your problem. Though it is most probably the location, you might want to check if the case holds or contains excess moisture. Since you have 2, hold one in case and other in the open?
A new carbon razor is just as prone to rust, stainless reportedly a bit less, but they aren't rustproof either.
