Default A neat idea for a travelling kit

This is a shameless plug of one Czech forum dedicated to razors. We have a new member there who has showcased a gift he had gotten from his brother in law, who happens to be a blacksmith and a knife maker and who crafted the kit for him (all the woodwork and the blade as well).

The pictures tell the story so you can ignore the strange tongue spoken there:

Fórum BÅ™itva CZ • Zobrazit téma - Rhinoceros - PrvnÃ*...

Neat idea, is not it? That wooden thing is a strop if you cannot tell that from the pictures.

That is a brilliant kit, I wish I had a brother in law like that.

    Default Travel Kit . . .

    Hello, Sparq:

A most attractive carrying case for a straight razor. Congratulations to the brother-in-law.

    Regards,

    Obie

Beautiful workmanship, but do you really have to unscrew the thing to get your razor out?

Has anyone ever seen a compact traveler kit for str8's as in a box with a strop or very fine hone as part of it?

There was a razor called a Rolls Razor many years ago that one side of it was strop the other hone and the mechanism that store it used the handle to run a single blade across the strop/hone- Pretty neat idea- I have 5 but I want to figure a easy way to rejuvenate the strop leather-
    Any idea of something simple?

You can get replacement leather strops for the Rolls in the classifieds:

That is just too cool, I may have to give a shot at making something like that.
