Thanked: 6Thinking of buying these 4. Opinions please.
Hi Guys.
A friend of mine has asked me if I am interested in buying these razors. I said I would get back to them tomorrow. Please tell me what you think they are worth as I want to give this person fair market price.
The ones with white scales are Joseph Rodgers & Sons and think they might be ivory.
Black scales, top right of pic is BUR and the bottom right with black scales I can't make out who the mfg is.
Thanks in advance.
Scott

IMHO, these are all going to need some work - some more than others. If it were up to me I'd probably only take the BUR on the upper right and I wouldn't offer much. Although, I don't know what the value is.
The others are in need of some restoration, I think, and I'd definitely pass on the two in ivory. Maybe someone else can get these shaving with little more than Maas, but not me and that's why I say all this.
Either way, good luck and show us the cleaned up photos!Last edited by BingoBango; 03-04-2010 at 03:27 AM.

I don't know what they are worth but I would offer $40 bucks for the lot and get out the Semichrome and hone them up. I wouldn't buy them if I was going to have to pay for honing or restoration.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

No offense to your friend, but the white ones are worth zero. The blades are all used up. I've seen the same Rodgers blade in nearly new shape, and it's like a 6/8 or 7/8 width blade. These are just all gone.
The other two are probably worth $20-30 apiece. Take the Bur, and then use the money you save to find some better razors here in the Classifieds.

10-15 bucks tops for the BUR, if he won't take it, walk.....You can probably elbow grease it to descent shape.....unless you have a buffer of dremmel.......Good Luck!

See, that's why we don't want appraisals here.
To all the 'experts' above, the cream colored razors are Joseph Rodgers in genuine ivory scales. Very cool stiff grind and great shavers. These are great candidates for cleanup.Last edited by gugi; 03-04-2010 at 04:27 AM.
