Unusual Dropped Blade Straight Razor
This is a razor I purchased last month and according to what information I could find on this razor, L.M.Taylor was in business from 1905 to 1925, they were a Barber supply company in Cincinnati, Ohio. The model name "oh you kid" came up as being made by Struth & Clottu Co. from Chicago, Illinois and they were in business from 1921 to 1922. This is a very unusual shaped straight razor . In fine print on the Tang is also marked made in Germany.I would suspect that this is a uncommon design. Does anybody know of another manufacturer that has made this design?.

Thanked: 6I don't know a darn thing about that razor but I like it. I've seen a few customs that are simular though. Its definatly cool, other than its humpback and stepped(?) Scales is there anything unusual?

I've seen one or two other vintage blades like that that I can think of, and I doubt I have seen any more than 5 of them. Can't remember any names, though.

There was a similar one in the classifieds back around the end of August that I really wanted to get, but it was gone before I could swing things. Very neat design visually if nothing else

I'm in the process of making one with a design like that. I think I saw a custom by Tim Zowada similar to that as well IIRC.

I too remember the one in the classifieds. Someone else came up with one and posted an inquiry about theirs so that is two. I don't recall the maker. May have been the same or maybe not. Nice piece though.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I would consider that razor to be very collectable (in other words , I want one) . Looks like it will make a good shaver , too . Since you live in "the volunteer state" , I think you should volunteer that razor to me . I'll hone it up , and let you know how it shaves .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

wrench3047, I say unusual because it is not your standard looking razor. It is definitely a cool looking razor.

Thanked: 6I was definiately not questioning it be unusual. Is there anything else unique about it also? IE; materials, interior scale design
