my favorite changes all the time. But a 1/2 hollow worcester and a 6/8 wacker are standouts without a doubt

Good looking C-Mon, I love mine, just a hair under 5/8's, pretty wedgie, awsome shaver
Buuuut.......These 2 sit on the top of my list,
8/8's Bob Allman custom scaled by me and a wonderful Wade & Butcher reground and rescaled by Bob Allman. I've got razors from 4/8's to 8/8's and I really can't say I favor one way or another. I've got a pretty tough beard and the scary sharp blades are always best.....and they all are lol.

I could never pick a single favorite razor. I tend to prefer shaving with 4/8-6/8 widths, but grind wise, I'm also all over the map.
I like the 4/8 and 9/16 wedges like a Bowdins Wedge. Light, easy to maneuver, comfortable silent shaves.
But, I have full hollows I shave with often such as a DD Dwarf and a Tonsorial Gem.
For looks, this razor is about as close to perfect as it gets IMO. The jimps were cut in such a way that they're toothy like no other razor I own. I actually like the look of it so much, as crazy as it sounds, it gives me enough satisfaction just looking at it that I've never honed it. Sacrilege, I know:

Like many of us I have a hard time deciding but I guess if push comes to shove a 5/8 full hollow is my preferred shave. OTOH, I like the larger sizes too. The 4/8 is a bit too small for me and on the 5/8 I like them to be on the 11/16 side of 5/8. Just a size that suits me for the weight and maneuverability I guess.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 190Width wise, 1/2 - 7/8, I have no preference. What I care about the most is it how long does the edge last, does it take an edge well, and does it shave well and give me a BBS shave.

Mackie, ThePhill, ChrisL...new razors/photos...thanks. After looking at some of the razors you guys have put some work into, I'm inspired to redo a couple of large blades I've had for a year or so...add to my newer purchases...Good stuff thanks!

Thanked: 522My Favorite
It seems we all have a preference and I'm no exception. Well, we have my Bismarck, Berg-Lowe, DD Special #1, Genco Easy Aces, several other Gencos and Genevas that I collect and two Torreys are decent shavers and I really like my Heribert Wacker Spanish point and the F W Engels and several Dovos but my all-time first choice is my Filarmonica Doble Temple. Hands down! I have a 73 yearold Venezuelan barber who shaves with his Filarmonica everyday and swears by it.
There is no accounting for taste in just about anything including women, scotch and straight razors and if you like a particular brand name, stick with it and enjoy.
And by the way, I love jimps, top and bottom and I think all razors should be mfg'd with top and bottom jimps. If I had my Bridgeport Milling Machine back, I would put jimps on all my razors. Do not sell your old tools. You will regret it.Last edited by mrsell63; 03-13-2010 at 07:59 AM.

Thanked: 13245My best shavers are rather easy, as close to these specs as possible for me please...
Size = 11/16
Grind = Extra hollow "Singing"
Point = Spike
Scales = Cracked Ice
Jimps = Both but at least bottom
Usually German or American steel
Probably 80% of my collection falls into 1/16 of an inch of those specs
and I own exactly one wedge, a DD Satinwedge that has been shaved exactly one time....
Now I do have a few Customs, that are all either 7/8 or 8/8, that I like just because I can have a choice LMAO...Last edited by gssixgun; 03-13-2010 at 08:13 PM.

The more full hollow for me the better. A full hollow singing blade being my all time favorite.
Everything between 6/8 to 8/8
As to why. They just shave me the best shave due to my sensitive skin and normal beard type/growth. I only need to shave every 2 or 3 days really. Full Hollows give me personally the closest shave.
Jimps are nice but I don't cry if they are absent. I also favor a razor with some kind of heft or weight to them. Some razors have a tendency to be very lightweight with a very narrow tang/spine. I try to avoid them even if they shave me well.
Some of my favorite all time shavers
Hans Otto Deutsch 6/8
Gabel #36 - 8/8 full hollow singing blade (woohoo)
All my Filarmonicas 13 and 14 (Doble Temple and EPBD)
Palmera 14
C-Mon Blackie
DD Stainless , Goldedge, Wonderedge
