Thanked: 1Eclipse Cutlery razor
Hey guys, new to the forums, have been reading for a while and learned a lot so far. Just waiting for my first razor to get back from being honed. Just bought this razor though, any opinions or info. I've been searching the internet and can't find much. The scales appear to be bone (maybe ivory?). I need clean up the blade and tighten the pivot pin a bit, it sits a little loose in the scales and as you can see from the pic of the scales, there's not a lot of wiggle room there as it closes.

I love those scales. Makes me want to try wood burning on
a set of home made replacement scales.

God!! That is a really nice Boker, in some rare looking celluloid scales, Fantastic tang and blade. Eclipse was a registered trademark of Boker from 1887-1918. Hang on to it forever, or sell it to me! I don't have the Doyle book of rare razor handles, but I believe that your pattern is in it. Congratulations!

Thanked: 1Oh nice, a Boker, that's good to know. I'm pretty sure it's got natural, not celluloid scales, I think bone. I just got it at a flea market, I hadn't seen anything like it in researching, but if it's really that rare, maybe I won't be messing around with it too much as my first razor restore.

Thanked: 1There is definitely no tree. Yours looks great. I was thinking about just hitting mine with a little 0000 steel wool and then polishing it up. There isn't any active rust, just a lot of discoloration. I don't care if it isn't a mirror shine for now, just want it to shave well. I was going to try and hone this one myself when I get more stones (heh, heh), but I guess I'll just send it off to someone else once it's cleaned up a bit more...
