I also am not fond of all the mass-produced German blades made for US Hardware stores in the last century. While I don't find them ugly, the fact that they are all the same with a different stamp makes them bland and unappealing... IMO
Remember that during the old days straights were very common items, probably about as common as a cheap ball-point pen is today. I think the plainest razor in the world with cheap plastic scales is still good looking as long as it's cleaned up.
