Razors you find ugly
Just wondering, what types of razors do you find ugly? Or what do you hate to see in a razor(aesthetically, not because of how it shaves/hones..etc)?
Personally I hate to see neon or fluorescent scales, like those on Filarmonicas or transparent acrylic neon. Also, I don't like to see razors that have been reshaped for a custom look but the lines and angles don't flow together. Of course to each their own though, and I'd put up with an unattractive looking razor that shaved great, but what do you find ugly?

I go back and forth on whether I think the TIPTLE razors are beautiful works of art, or are ugly as sin.
I also am not fond of all the mass-produced German blades made for US Hardware stores in the last century. While I don't find them ugly, the fact that they are all the same with a different stamp makes them bland and unappealing... IMO

Vintage razors that have been rescaled. Sometimes it is necessary but I'd rather have an original horn with bug bites and a crack at the wedge than a rescaled W&B in some kind of wood or plastic.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Vintage razors that have been re-scaled while keeping the original style in mind don't bother me.It's the vintage razors that are re-scaled to look like a Klingon just brought it down from outer space that bother me.I'm more traditional.

Thanked: 13246Muhahahaha
I find Rust, Pitting and Patina, U G L Y you ain't got no alibi,,,, you ugly,, oh yeah, you ugly...
Warped, bug bitten, and cracking scales, is U G L Y too
Uneven edges are really ugly can't stand a worn out spike point...
Round points ain't all that cute either...
See beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder... one man's treasure is another man's trash...
Give me bright, clean, shiny, steel baby, clean new scales, and sharp as sin clean edges... that is what I am talking about, when I pull out the razor I wanna be dazzled.. and if I can do that with all vintage stuff, that really rocks.... NOS Baby N O S... If it ain't, or pretty darn close, it needs help in my eyes...

Thanked: 363I can't stand plastic, ivory, bone, wood or whatever on the tang or spine, near the jimps, looks silly and why glue or pin something to that beautiful steel?
I hate Abalone, it looks like a pyshcedelic mess! Hurts mine eyes!
I'm not a fan of Mamoth bone, and especially stag horn, looks like a hunting accident.
Round points ain't all that cute either...
I don't like clear acrylic scales, looks like a tool found at the doctors office.
I really cant stand the use of carbon fiber, I know everyone here loves guns, but it's not a firearm!
cheers

Thanked: 530So far, I haven't found something I don't like.. Plain scales, colorful scales, Glen's scales, Max's scales, Undream's scales, average/traditional shapes, fanciful, shaped scales, psychadelic, simplistic. It's all good... I am okay with round points, but I prefer Barber's notch or spanish (Although, the spanish ones scare me to strop.. I do love my strops)
I like them all...
As such, just for fairness' sake... If there are any razors that you fine gentlemen find just too ugly for yourself, I will gladly make sure that it finds a loving home.
In my rotation.

I'm not into the crazy incandescant scales. Other than that, there are lots I find boring (though I like simple myself... it's a fine line in the eye of this beholder) but not many are actually ugly.
Well, there are some ugly ones out there...
