    Default Hayashi Diamond

After shaving for 45 years, I've finally been bitten by the bug to shave with a straight razor.
I recently bought a G.H. Pumacker "Black Diamond" to learn the ropes with, but a friend provided me with an opportunity to buy a razor that I have been taken with for some time... The Hayashi Diamond.
One of the reasons this razor attracted me, besides it stunning beauty, was the fact that the blade is made of Üddeholm Steel, the same tool steel we used almost exclusively in my 40 year career as a Tool & Die Maker.. A connection too strong for me to pass up.
So, here is a poor quality picture of the Hayashi Diamond, in purple along with my new Tony Miller Heirloom strop..

I guess I'm on my way...

She's a beauty as some might say "She's flash" and best of luck I hear the TM strops are very good. Mind clarifying what Uddeholm Steel is? What is it's rockwell rating, my father was a tool and die maker for years as well. As a father myself now I'm glad Ive picked up some quality blades to pass on to my son.

Üddeholm is merely a brand name, much like Krupp, Boehler, Crucible etc. They are a manufacturer of high quality steel alloys based in Sweden. The Rockwell hardness of the steel would be dependent on the specific ally, whether oil hardening, water hardening or air hardening, and the heat treatment and tempering processes involved. Two pieces of identical steel from the same billet, can go through the same processes side by side, and have a slightly different hardness on the rockwell C Scale.
The quality lies in the entire process and the love and care involved in each step..
Üddeholm just strikes a chord with me because of my tenure with it over the years..

Thanks all for the kind words.

That particular H. Diamond razor is in my opinion one of the finest shaving razors ever.
I am crazy about the entire line Japanese Diamond razors your model is the best of the best.
    Enjoy.
