Early retirement for my DD?
Back in college, when Reagan was still president, I mentiioned to my roomate that it would be cool to try shaving with a straight razor. For my 21st birthday, he gave me a new, never honed shiney razor with pearl handles and some ducks on it with gold plating. Very nice I said. Tried it once, then put it in a drawer for 20 years.
The razor was a Double Duck Goldedge, NOS, and knowing him, he probably paid $20 for it. had he known what it would turn out to be, he probably would have kept it. This was my first razor and I wisely entrusted it to Ken Rup when I started getting serious about shaving with it. he put a beutiful edge on it and straightened out the scales so it closed properly. Since then, I have added a couple of W&Bs, a nice Torrey, a Boker and a few others to the stable (yes, I have SAD....and I'm okay with that).
I have been looking for another DD to replace this one, so I don't get it all dirty, but I'm just too cheap. The question is, do i retire it early, and save it for special occasions, or use it and love it?
