    Default J.A. Henckels #14

    Hey guys!
While off to a wedding in Savanah this weekend, I took some time to hit all the antique shops I could.

Scored a Henkles #14 which seems to be 15/16 in super condition.
Just a little rust up at the top of the blade in 2 places and some on the gimping. $35.00

I just finished bringing it back to like new condition.
Honed it up and was pleased to see it had the tinyest little bevel maybe 1/32. Touched it to the hair on my arm and the hair just exploded in front of the blade. WOW.

Can't wait to shave test this bad boy. Hope I don't sneaze and behead myself with this thing. LOL.

Henckels are amongst the best shavers of the vintage razors.

That must have been in the only shop I didn't check just a few weeks ago!
Nice grab, I love those blades

    You bought that for $35?!??!

Oh man, that is a sweet deal. I have a Friodur #14 that I paid a LOT more for, and it has the white (or cream) scales, not the black.

If you've never used one of these, they are wicked sharp and great shavers -- with a huge, super thin, hollow blade, the #14 just melts through whiskers without even making much noise. I would compare it to a Gotta 8/8 or a Kama 8/8 that I've also used. And yes, if you sneeze, you will cut your ear right off your head.

    Congrats on the score.
