Thanked: 74Well, the new Henckels razors may no longer be a concern for me. I just won one on eBay. Here is the listing:
JA Henckels Friodur Inox Straight Razor - eBay (item 300423846970 end time May-09-10 19:42:10 PDT)
eBay Item #: 300423846970
It went higher than I would have cared for, but I have been looking for this exact razor for awhile now. Would this make for a good comparison, Glen?

Thanked: 480Wow! I returned one just like that to Gugi! I bet hes laughing at me now.
I just did my first shave with my 70 1/2 and it was a sweet, smooth shave.
I would also be happy to send my razor off to Glen for a test comparison. I think it would be kind of intersting for a complete, all styes/grinds review.

1 NOS sent back for an exchange
I bought one of the NOS 7/8 straight points off of Ebay. When it arrived the toe of the blade had been chipped, and there was some discoloration that looked like it had been heated around the area (poorly). However, the vendor so far has been great about it and is exchanging it out for another blade (it was the standard lot of 10), and promising to check this one for defects...which I guess sadly wasn't done before.
That being said though, it did seem about 1/2 hollow to me, in my limited experience, and much heavier than my 5/8 M. Jung "Our Special" that I'm using now. Once I get the (undamaged!) new blade, I'll send it to Lynn and let everyone know my impressions too. Although after the reviews of these blades by much more experienced members on here, I'm not sure how helpful my info will be!
