I have them from 5/8 to 8/8, and they're all good. You just need to pick one in a width you are comfortable with.

As to whether it is worth it, only you can decide. As for me, it is my favorite production razor bar none.

True the stock scales are plain - I have one Filly with the stock scales and the same blade with custom scales by Joe Chandler, and the one thing I can assure you is they shave the same.

My vote would be a #14 DT square point.

My absolute favourite amongst them are the 2 first one's I bought. A DT 13 and a EPBD 14. I would, in a heartbeat, give up my Zowada, my Mastro Livi or any of the the other fine razors I have, before I would separate from those 2.

I also have both Ducal's and a Palmera #14 that is more or less equally good. They come a bit cheaper too.

If you want to GIVE those up, I'd be willing to take them! I'm still a newb, 3 months of straight shaving) and I'm sure my face would appreciate one or both of those blades

If you're comparatively new to straight shaving, the best move is to wait until you know what your preferences are. I didn't do that, and I wound up with a bunch of razors that I thought I would like but ultimately had to sell, losing money on all of them. It takes time and experience to really know what appeals to you.

Oh, that was a blast from the past.
I have since I posted this a cuple years back added to that collection a little bit.

It has been fun collecting, and using the various Filarmonica's.
I haven't sold a single one, and am not about to begin now

The #14 EPBD's are still on top of my list, although there are a fair few in my rotation that is very close in performance.

about two years ago I got a #14 for a very decent price from a friend, didn't really care for it, not that it's a bad shaver but I have many other razors that I bought for a small price that honed and shaved better (for me that is).

I ended up getting a filarmonica medallon taurino 14 this year from Neil Miller, yes it was pricey and probably not worth the money in a purely financial sense BUT its a joy to shave with and puts a smile on my face every time i open my razor case ( upto 20 now and i blame this site entirely ! ) so money well spent for the satisfaction it gives - which is a lot.
