It was brought to my attention by a member of another forum that this is a theory:
PERSEVERANCE - PERSEV = ERANCE which looks like FRANCE if the bottom of the 'E' is worn away or stamped on an angle as it appears yours was.
Look at how "France Works" isn't centered on the logo. If you make that "Perseverance Works", the writing becomes centered.

Yes, my computer room is adorned with flash cards!
Our straight razor database is quite extensive now and that's always the first place I go when someone has a question about a manufacturer.
Ahh, nice catch! Here's a pic where you can see most of the wording, courtesy of holli I believe:

Ok. Most likely, this razor was made by Joseph Wostenholm, Perseverance Woks, Sheffield, 1854 - 1867.
Adolph Castor(Kastor), he was born in Germany, began to use "EBRO" trademark only at the beginning of the 20th century. And had many problems with Geo.Wostenholm company.
Formally the Sheffield register lists the "EBRO" trademark as belonging to Adolph Castor(Kastor) in 1919.
That's all, and France have nothing to do with.Alex Ts.

Thanks Manah for the information. I sent it out yesterday to be comletely restored. I will post pics when I get it back. I cannot wait to shave with it.
