Thanked: 2Should I put this on my face? :D
Well, I have just bought my first straight razor apart from a few injectable straights. I am not a straight guru, so I have no idea what kind of quality I have just bought. In my eyes it seems alright and refinishable, and the price wasn't very high so I can gamble a bit. When I receive it I will send it straight to a sharpener.
Does someone has any info on these? It says Weltmeister 865 Rostfrei Eisgehartet. The pictures are from the seller.

Can you post a closeup of the stamps on the tang?

Thanked: 2I am sorry, the pictures are from the seller and terrible. I haven't received it yet. Of course I would never confront you with such terrible pictures if I could solve it.
The blade should probably look something like this one posted by Hawkseye5.

Ah, I see. Well, the razor looks to be in good shape, but I don't recognize the writing on the scales. Perhaps someone else can chime in.

Thanked: 2Could it be a rescale? As I can see, this one has almost the same scales. Only the 3th pin is missing.

'Weltmeister' was a trademark of Otto Busch of Wald-Solingen in the 1920's and again recorded at Altenhoferstrasse in 1939 and 1983. 'Rostfrei' of course means stainless. Hope this helps!

Thanked: 335It's probably a stain resistant Otto Busch Worldmaster Ice Hardened razor. If so, it's a great razor and when sharpened up should shave like a dream.

Thanked: 2Thanks all or your info. I had a suspicion that it was a Otto Busch. But I couldn't find much info about the particular type blade in combination with these scales.
In the meantime I have received the blade. It shows no major damage, pitting or hone wear. So I think it is a good buy. Although the scales are nice in their own respect, I do not like them.
I was thinking about ordering the plastic TI blades from classic shaving, but since I a from Europe shipment costs add up. And I have no idea if the TI scales ooze quality. These scales do slightly, but I think they are a bit flimsy. I like sturdyness and a slightly more modern look.
I like the style of the TI scales and ofcoure love the metal hand machined color filled scales self made on this forum, but I think they are out of my budget.
Does someone have a nice alternative? Thanks!
