Thread: Livi Takeda 2 Steel Razors

Well I wanted to know if anyone has a 2 Steel Takeda Livi. I was going to have a Takeda Damascus made, and was told they are no longer being produced. I thinking about going with the 2 steel Takeda, but dont have any experience with it. I do have his Blue Tong Damascus and regular ATS steel. I dont know what my next razor should be made from.

Yes I've got a Takeda steel and a Takeda Dam by Livi. Both are super shavers. If you get with Don maybe he could pull some strings and get Livi to furnish what you want. It is very understated pattern unlike the more figured Damascus on his other razors.

I had owned a Takeda Damascus at one time, thats why im wondering If I should just go with Livi's regular Damascus or go with the Takeda 2 Steel

I have a Livi Takeda Damascus. I consider it a "go to" sort of razor...always a superlative shave..easy to maintain....beautiful. What else could you ask for?

I believe the center (edge section) of the sandwich is the same as the non-damascus razors so whichever one you get it will be a great razor.

As Jimmy points out, the Damascus pattern on a Takeda is extremely subtle, not anything like a blue Tonge or a Zowada, for example.

Ok...so the sandwich is basically the same thing as the regular?

I have the Takeda 2 / San Mai. Superlative shaver and nice understated look.

Here are a few photos for comparison. The pearl scaled is the Takeda steel. The flash obscures the engraving but it is just engraved Takeda Steel on the reverse tang. One is as good as the other IMO so I don't know what to tell you.

Thanks Bill, like you said, a go to razor. Looking at the link Ray posted I see the Livi/Takeda types 1,2 and 3. My Takeda Steel is also layered so maybe I got an early one or I don't know what but here is a pic of the layering. I know the feeling Isaac, I've sold a razor or two .... or more that I regret later.
