What you have there is a fine example of the Rolls Razor. That really is in amazing shape.

My grandfather shaved with one of those until the day he died.

My understanding is this was the first in the "safety razor" line. They're pretty sweet and I know there are alot of people who still use them.

    Edit: A good intro video

Yup, it's a Rolls Razor. They are actually pretty common to see (though in that shape they are not common - that is an excellent example), though I don't know how common their use is. They are single edge's what can be honed and stropped - some call them a straight on a stick, but I think SE is more accurate.

If I'm not mistaken, Stimpy has one and really likes it. Maybe he'll chime in.

Yes that is probably the nicest I've seen. FWIW, Heljestrand and I think Henckles (maybe) made their versions of a safety razor with blades that were honed and stropped in a similar fashion. I've never owned one of those but have always found them interesting.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The Rolls is an excellent shaver once you get the blade honed and stropped. Do a search on Rolls Razor in the tool bar at the top of the page. There has been a number of threads on this subject in the past few years. You should be able to get a lot of valuable information. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me.

I have three Rolls sets and they certainly are good shavers once properly honed up. I get probably the finest shave ever when I use mine!

Last year I found a brand new replacement hone and strop at a car boot sale and got them for £1 so I now have one as new Rolls set.

I love mine and they also look so good!
