50/5 veni vidi vici razor
Hey friends,
I bought a razor (not shave ready) and a barber hone (feels like 12k) on a yard sale.
I was wondering if anyone knew this kind of razor since I can only detect the words "50/5 veni vidi vici" on it. The case has a kind of Celtic looking design on it but I have no clue whether it is the original. Razor itself is still salvageable.
The barber hone has little pits and dents, especially around the edges. I cleaned of all the mug and grime and i feels nice and semi smooth. I am just wondering if I ca still use it....
Any clues?

Razor looks great, but I have a sneaking suspicion that hone is a scythe stone...
Here is a diagram showing the cross-section of a sickle blade and the scythe-stone being used to sharped it.

Could very well be. Never thought about it not being a barber hone in between all that shaving gear XD

What a great find! If it holds and edge well you will have a fun, unique shaver on your hands. Very cool, indeed.

x100.
That razor looks terrific, but that stone could tear it up in a hurry. I know it would be a pleasure to hone and use that razor, but there's just enough hone wear on it that I'd be very careful, at least at the bevel-setting stage.
Please consider sending it for a professional polish and honing, you won't regret it once you shave with it.
beautiful blade!Don't get hung up on hanging hairs.

Wow I just looked up the web site at the bottom of that diagram and it's pretty interesting the way they set a bevel on a scythe.

Does anyone have more info about where when and how the razor was made?
