I'll be perfectly honest here, and I hope it doesn't rub some folks fur the wrong way...
First, up front, I don't want to commit the resources to what a custom would cost.
Second, and more important, for me to buy a custom, I'd need to know alot about the craftsman, and all the details, quite specifically of how the razor was crafted.
I spent my career as a Tool & Die Maker. I know full well that some folks may be well equipped and properly up to the task, and that there are also those that are probably less so.
I'd prefer a forging over bar stock, and the closer to final shape that forging comes out the better. I'd also like to know the alloys, heat treatment and all the finishing tools and methods.
It's true that I don't know all these details about the big names, but they have been in the business long enough, and obviously made sufficient investment in equipment and personnel to make a business work successfully over the long haul.
This is not a knock on any custom razor producers. Their product may well be superior, but it's something I don't know.
Third, I'm a simple man with simple tastes. I enjoy looking at the fancy eye candy pictured here, but some are just too highly embellished for my tastes. I subscribe to the old engineering axiom... Less is more... Beauty is as beauty does.
So, with all due respect to the custom razor makers... You're work is stunning, but it's just not my style.
