Max is indeed The Man. And Paua is probably the prettiest, most elegant scale material around.
I've wrestled with preservation vs. complete mirror restore myself, and have gone both ways. Some old razors have an inherent quiet dignity that I want to preserve, staining and all. But in this instance, I feel you (and Max) absolutely did the right thing. This razor was originally meant to be a showpiece, you simply restored it to glory. The original size, grind, and etching of that razor were in no way an attempt at understatement, that's for sure.

I'm another fan of max and agree that you got yourself a great razor there, very beautiful and undoubtedly will shave like a dream when Max is done. His honing is second to none.

Wow, that is gorgous. I have a great puma blade without scales. I was thinking of rescaling it myself, but I don't have many tools. Maybe I'll send it off to Max for honing and scaling.

Thanked: 530Just wait till you get the razor back in person... The photos don't do that paua justice... There're lovely shades of green along with the blue that cameras alone can't capture... You'll love it
