If you keep them in good condition, they will still be worth a considerable amount TO ME and POSSIBLY to other straight users (no valuations done here) even if you were to hone and use them. Let Glen hone one up for you!
What did you even buy them for anyway? Are you a collector who will never let them see the light of day again, hoarding them in the darkness to examine on the odd occasion when no one is looking?
I have a NOS set of Goedecke & CO Solingens, Metropol Specials. 3 of them are still in their papers, but 4 of them I honed up and regularly use. Compromises are possible too.

Thanked: 9Dorko 7 day set
Today I went north to visit Glen @ Gem star creations and I was provided a tour of his workshop. First, he took pictures of the razors, then, while we talked shop, he polished the blade on my W&B 8/8 and then rescaled my favorite TI with red stamina! There is not high enough praise for his skills! He is the true professional, craftsman and a total perfectionist! We have all probably seen his work but I was allowed to see his personal razor collection. I thought I had a lot of razors (and I use them) but his collection is astonishing! I left my IXL wedge with him to repair the broken scale and I left him another TI to hone for me. (I just wanted to compare my hone skills against his).
So, in a couple weeks I will probably pay him another visit to collect my razors, and after I try out his hone on the TI, I will provide you all an honest assessment (my opinion) and then, maybe, I will let him hone the Dorko set
In the meantime, I will clean the blades and apply new protectant. I am in no hurry to use them, I have no plans to sell them, I don't want to damage them.
I appreciate all the feedback, and, if I change my mind, the Dorko set will be offered to this website first (un-honed with original box & paperwork)
Glen should have the pictures posted and I have not seen them yet, but you should all know that none of the protective coating was removed so the blades may be blurry.
Thanks again for your comments and all feedback is still encouraged and appreciated.
Best regards, Bob
