Default DORKO 7 DAY RAZOR SET

I RECENTLY ACQUIRED A DORKO 7 DAY SET. UNUSED. ORIGINAL PACKAGING, ORIGINAL GREASE, NO HONE OR STROP MARKS DETECTABLE UNDER MAGNIFICATION, NO SCRATCHES, RUST OR NICKS......FLAWLESS. THE FIRST THING I WANT TO DO IS CLEAN & HONE THEM AND TRY THEM OUT, HOWEVER....
Q #1) WILL CLEANING THEM ADVERSELY AFFECT THEIR VALUE?
#2) SHOULD I LEAVE THEM ALONE?
#3) SHOULD I APPLY ADDITIONAL OIL TO BLADES & STORE?
#4) SHOULD I JUST USE THEM AND PUT THEM IN MY ROTATION?

BEFORE I DO ANYTHING TO THE SET I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL FEEDBACK. I WOULD HATE TO DO ANYTHING WRONG THROUGH IGNORANCE

I understand the desire of value, but if you don't use them, what are you going to do, just look at them? If an item that was made for use is not used then it is useless. You will probably always wonder how they shave anyway.

Default Eyes and Hands on look see

Fortunately two things are true here...

    1. I know a thing or two about razors...
    2. We are close enough that I can meet you and take a look at this set, BEFORE you do anything to them at all...

    You have PM...

It's a simple matter of do you want to use them or do you want to keep/sell them for income?

If you want to sell them, leave them alone with the original grease. If you want to use them, just keep them as original as possible. Tape the spine when honing and keep them oiled.

First of all TURN OFF CAPS. We don't yell. Second, trust Glen he knows a thing or two. Third I agree with prosneek, I like using things that others just look at.

I vote for a pro-honing and get to using them. Even if you use them for the rest of your life, there wouldn't be an appreciable amount of wear on them. If you put something of yourself into them, they become more valuable as family heirlooms...how many things do you have that your family will fight over when you die?

As a collectable, yes, cleaning them will diminish their value to a pure collector. Just as clean up a crated and Cosmoline packed rifle would diminish the vale to a pure collector. The end question should be, do you want them as an investment to resell in another 20 years at a nice profit, or do you want to use them and enjoy them for the next 20 years and take a lower profit when/if you decide to sell them.

I'll save you 20 years and give you low profit now!

Sounds liek a great set. You have gotten pretty fantastic advice here, and an offer from Glen that many of us would be very, very glad to take advantage of. He knows a thing or two....and if you decide to hone and use them....there are very few out there that put a better edge on a razor.
