Thanked: 2Camping/travel blades (very small but very effective)
This is one of my primary reasons for wanting to shave with straights to be honest so I can go on extended trips with no worries about shaving, I like being clean shaven, even in winter.
ANyway.
I have searched all over google before about a dozen times and found nothing suited.
So I am asking you guys, is there a really good quality 3" blade or Ideally 3"OAL straight that delivers results with little maintenance.
I cannot order online but I would bug my friends to get this for me if there was one available especially shave ready.
Thanks in advance...

For this situation, I suggest you get a Shavette.
Great for extended use in the field. No worries about rusting or damage. No stropping. No need to hone. Just replace the DE blade as you need to. A sharp blade for every shave too.

I agree with the shavette idea.
I was thinking about what to bring with me for my trip to Europe but it got too complicated thinking about strops and hones or anything I could think about.
I decided I would take my shavette instead and I would be fine.
Even tho I do enjoy the idea of shaving on my balcony with a bottle of wine and the eiffle tower as my view, I'm sure I'll enjoy it just as much with a shavette compared to my grelots.Shaving_story on Instagram

Thanked: 1371I take a Rolls Razor when travelling. The shave is very similar to a straight, it's compact, and you can go indefinitely without needing replacement parts.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Thanked: 190For out in the field for a long time, a disposable straight razor.
I just returned from a month long trip to Europe and used one of my straight razors and my 4 sided paddle strop. It was a great decision for me. It has been a while since I used only one straight razor for that amount of time, but it worked out fine.

There were some manufacturers that produced shorter blades; when I bought the one I have it was advertised as a travel razor. 2.1/4 inch blade/ 5.3/8 inch overall closed. Not 3 inch you are looking for but I have seens several besides the one I have. You might reconsider that 3 inch as being a bit too tiny.
Again; probably not a thing you can locate instantaneously. Nor is it guaranteed you could find a damaged blade to modify to your needs, but that is another possibility-hacking your own from an existing tool . some members have done this already and could possibly help out.
If a shavette suits you, then problem solved. I take one or two of my regular razors wherever, whenever I go. I didnt start straight razoring to but another type of disposable
Maintenance is something you have to learn. Most of the things I made for traveling have since become all I need for everyday use. But, no I dont carry a 20 pound box of hones around with me

Dovo
I just spent a week in Czech Republic at a conference, i took my Dovo in a handkerchief + one ribbon to tie it. i used my thumb to strop and then some jeans over the arm of a chair stretched tight, i have heavy stubble and it lasted me five shaves, perfect.

i was going to take my artist club for travel but i was worried about losing my luggage.. so i got a DE.. the merkur 34c is recommend by many for people just starting out and they run about $35.. there is also a travel sized merkur.. but it think if you want to stick with straights you could just get a shavette.. they are also only about $30 and use disposable blades.. i plan on getting one at some point just for the fun of it.. i've seen sotd posts were people use them as their daily shaver.. either way.. if you are that worried about it.. just revert to bic disposables for travel.. you can get a 10 pack for a couple bucks.. sometimes you gotta make sacrifices..
