    I have found that most razors I've come across are 1/16 to 1/8 larger than the size written on them.

    I don't know why, but this seems to be a general trend. I seem to recall John Crowley asked Mr Wacker about it and Wacker said there was a unit of measure which was not inches that was used in the production of razors. I'll search and see if I can find it.
