Someone please correct me if I am wrong but doesn't a collector really want something that is truly unique? one of a kind? A 5 day set, in the Welsh language, seems to qualify. If the razors were handmade customs they would fit the bill much better.

I am yet to see investment in razors pay off, unless you get them really cheap. It seems that most razors sell for less money than what they were originally purchased new. We're talking current production and custom razors here.
Even with highly hyped up limited razors that are no longer available, like the 1/4 hollow LeGrelot, or the Pierre Thiers TI.
Now when you get something highly customized you're also restricting the pool of future buyers who like the exact same customizations as you.

I can tell you from experience that the few times I've listed two razors at the same price, one a like-new current production razor, and the other like-new vintage with more history, more embelishments, harder to find and better shaver, the one that sells really quickly has been the current production.

This doesn't mean you shouldn't get your set, just get it for the right reasons, or you may be quite disappointed in the future when you try to recoup your investment money.

IMO 7 day; If the intention is the weekends to try something new, certainly come wed I'd be be grabbing something from the fun shelf. In the same regards, getting ready for a sat wedding or funeral, might I feel comfort with "the regular"?

Lastly, times and jobs always evolve; in whatever you do, 15 years from now sun could be a work day.

Fifteen years from now, I'll be 76. If I'm working on Sunday, I'll likely be a Wal-Mart greeter!

Jimmy may we never meet. I would kill for that four day set, even without any Welsh writing. Just the fact that it was made in Cymru (Wales). A nice buy indeed. Another post stated that there is rarely money to made in straights. I would say it is all about supply and demand, because if I had the money, you would be making a tidy profit off of me.

    Go for it!

I've got a three day set (which is currently out doing the rounds with a few members here actually) of ivory scaled french point razors, and I got it precisely because it was a little more unusual.

Theres always going to be a market for the unusual items, so you shouldnt have much trouble trying to find a buyer if you ever do decide to sell them.

If your mainly gonna do it for yourself certainly there is nothing wrong with that, I was only addressing the collect-ability and future sales issue. There are many things out there that are appraised for a lot of money but they are less marketable and though technically rare and valuable you have to find the person who is desirous of just that item. So with a unusual set you need to find the person who wants that limited set type.

No argument here but I suspect that person wont be hard to find.
