    Default Wostenholm question

What makes a pipe razor a pipe? Is it the shape or because of how it was made?

It is most likely because there is an image of a pipe stamped into the shank.

    Here are the Wostenholm logos:

As JMS was saying, if it has that pipe logo (the top-most one) then it's a pipe razor. Simple as that as far as I know.

I didn't know Tally-Ho's were a Wostenholm! Only been Straight shaving for about a month, but my 5/8 wostenholm peerless is my best shaver. Don't know why, but I consistently get my best shaves from it.

I picked up a 7/8 Tally-Ho Wedge awhile back in good condition, just needs rescaled and honed (only cost me $15). Looking forward to trying it out. Love me the wostenholm I have so far and am glad I have another one I didn't know about!

Note the pipe stamped on the shank of the razor.

In all seriousness, the best person to ask for Wostenholm information is manah. If he can't find the info then it doesn't exist

No, in the same way that Colonel Sanders is synonymous with KFC, a series of red concentric circles with Target, Lyndon Baines Johnson with military coups in South America...

An everyday symbol, a smoking pipe, became a reminder of Wostenholm; something unique, catchy, distinctly GW & Sons.

they were originally F Fenney, I think the trademark was then purchased as some razors around the transition are also stamped 'late fenney'.
and there were probably imitations because i've seen stamps 'a real tally ho'

Thanks for the info. Here are some pics of the razor in question. Any idea if this is a Wosty or Fenney. Guess I'm not too concerned as it only cost me $15 and I thought it would make a good project for me to attempt to restore. If it turns out to be a Wosty though that would be pretty cool. Don't know why, but of the 5 razors I have my wosty just shaves the best for me.
