    Default Rust - please help

Ok, if this has been covered before please just point me in the right direction.

Apparently my wife knocked over my razor while cleaning the bathroom and it got wet. She did her best to dry it, but there is a little bit of rust at the toe of the razor. Thankfully it's not near the edge of the blad, so cleaning it of shouldn't affect the sharpness of the razor.

How should I go about cleaning off the rust?

Assuming its not had a long time for the rust to get really active (and it sounds like it hasnt) then MAAS and a Q-Tip should see you right!

Just put a dab of MAAS on the end of the Q-Tip and rub to get the rust off. Just watch out for gold wash as the MAAS will remove it.

Good luck and keep us posted!

You know what I do? I go to Starbucks and " borrow" a handlful of thier wooden swizzle sticks. These things are like Swiss army knives. I usually snip the end off at an angle and dip that in some oil and carefully rub the rust spot. You can keep snipping the end off as it gets dirty to expose fresh wood. You can also wrap some paper towel or tissue around the stick to get between the scales. It's stiffer that pipe cleaners. My 2 cents..

Black or red rust, could we get a pic? If it is too much for Maas or the other polishes it may have to be sanded with some 2k grit wet/dry sand paper and then polished with Maas or Simichrome.

In the future, get one of those silicone treated gun cloths and after you shave, and the blade is dry, just wipe it down. it'll prevent rust, and it's easier than oiling it up and wiping it off everyday. The only blades I cover in oil are the ones in storage...

Stubear is not available to take your call right now....So,

MAAS is available at Wal Mart I think, but I'm lazy, I just ordered mine through Amazon...

OK, I needed other stuff anyway.....

    1) It wasn't left wet by me, my wife got it wet while cleaning and didn't tell me. I am very careful to dry my straights.
    2) If I use that gun cloth do I need to remove the oil before I start shaving?

Some Ace Hardwares carry it, some carry Flitz (same stuff) Some Walmarts carry Mass also. Best to call ahead or order online.

Anyone know if The Home Depot or Lowes carries either?
