    Default Sears Selfhoning Razor

    Hello All,

I was hoping to gain some insight to a newly acquired razor. It was given to me from my father-in-law and it was his grandfather's razor. I've tried to find some information on the razor but I am not having much luck. One side of the tang has "Sears Selfhoning" and the other has a U.S. patent number and on the spine it has "Sears 1865" It's not on the list of brands to avoid so I am wondering if anyout there has one of these in their collection? Here are a few pictures, I apologize for the quality of the pictures, don't fully comprehend how to use the wife's camera. Thanks in advance.

you might try running a patent search for that patent number - you should find some info

I shave with an older Sears. Mine isn't marketed as a self-honing razor, but it's a legitimate vintage brand

I have one or two old Sears razors kicking around somewhere. They all shave pretty well IMHO.

If that razor is self honing it should be ready to go...Right?

Go ahead Joe, you can shave with it first! Good Luck!
