Default Dovo Razor not sharp enough?

    Guys

Here's the situation. I have three razors. a Kayer Ellison, some not-noname-but-still-unidentifiable razor and a Dovo Black Star, which I bought new about 6 weeks ago, when I started shaving with a straight.

Now, the best weapon in my arsenal is the seemingly no-name razor. It's excellent. It gives me very nice shaves without any trouble. I can say that, even as a noob. The Kayser Ellison is nice too.

But I am a little concerned about my Dovo. For instance, it doesn't really cut the hair on my arm. Well, it *does* cut it, but only if I hold the blade in a 45° or so angle. Anything flatter than that, such as a 30° angle and it doesn't cut. No problems with my other 2 razors though.

Any thoughts? I do have an 8k hone... Should I hone it? Or strop the poop out of it? Please advise.

    Thank you in advance.

    thumb rule...
If it shaves your face hairs fine..I wouldn't worry about..different hairs react differently to any blade..some easier than other areas

Was the razor shave ready when you bought it?
If not I would send it to get honed by one of the money people that do it here, that way when you are ready to learn to hone, you can have a benchmark.

If the other two are shaving fine, it's not your technique, if the Dovo is tugging or pulling, it may need a touch up. 8k is fine, start small, try 10-20 lapps, strop and test...
See how it does, depending on the blade and it's condition, it may need more....

P.S. If you just bought it, and it's like that..by all means, contact the vendor and let them know..Do not hone it if this is the case as many vendors will not accept them back after you try to hone it...

I should have mentioned, If it was sold as "Shave Ready"...

New razors (DOVO, T-I) direct from the factory are not sharp enough.
    It's a fact.
