Especially interesting that someone who hones all day uses a wet piece of cow horn to do the TNT; if she didn't, I can only imagine what her fingernails would look like. So Dovo uses a variation on the TNT and hanging hair test, good to know that our edge-testing methods are close to the manufacturers.
Fingernails, toenails, hair, hooves, and horn are all made out of the same very strong protein substance called keratin. I used to know a "high-volume" knife sharpener who used a small piece of elk horn in the same way.

Thanks for locating/posting that. It was a nice little factory tour.

I read a post the other day by someone experimenting using fine monofilament fishing line in place of hair for the HHT. I was very interested, and intend to do my on experimentation. I found it interesting Dovo uses a similar method using fine nylon as I understand.

Why did I have to rehone my Dovos? Looks to me like they should be good to go from the factory.
