If it were me I would use that Norton that you have on loan and hone that sucker up.

Of course that would be after I had the other hand full of practice razor honed.

You got the first shave out of the way, the hardest one. Now get the hardest razor hone out of the way, the first one is the hardest as you will be so worried about it.

Will it be the Wapi or another???

Ummmmmmmmm... I don't think I'm up to honing yet... I can't even make my strop work...
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated...

Hello gentlemen, I recently purchased one of theses all stainless razor's. Do any of you have any advice on polishing the scales on a stainless. There are a few scratches I would like to clean up. Thank you!

I have seen the razor from the Solingen original producer and it had an owner name manually engraved on scales together SS sign and date 1939. That means at least at that time SS troops did not get razors as equipment - if ever.
I have not found any historical notice about shaving utilities for German troops in WWII.

    Sorry for confusion.
At least its a Gotlieb & Hammersfar, one of the best shavers I own,and would never think
of getting rid of or trading for anything else. A new set of scales would not be out of order as I doubt those are really stamped by the ss,and if they were then all the more reason to restore them to something to be proud of,IMHO of course
