Thanked: 0Zeeck brand info request
My mother, bless her heart, bought me a razor at a flea market for Christmas after I mentioned that I was considering buying one. Doubtful of its quality, I did a quick google search but have found very little information aside from an ebay sale for $200.
DESCRIPTION:
The blade is in size and ornate shape as in the ebay link above. The handle is black plastic(?).
On one side is etched on the blade "TRADE ZEECK BRAND MARK". Near the handle it reads "JOHNSON BROs HDW Co". On the opposite side is etched "GERMANY"
Obliged for any info. Particularly if its worth cleaning up and using.
Best,

The link is broken, but if it's in good shape and is a German blade, yes it's worth cleaning up and using.

That listing has been removed, but based on what you've mentioned, I'd be doubtful of it's quality. If you buy off the SRP Classifieds or another SR related site, the chances that you'll get a quality, shave ready razor are excellent. If you buy off of eBay, there's no telling what you may end up with.

Thanked: 0Thanks for the info, guys. Changed the link. I'm likely to buy a new SR, but wanted to check to see if I have something in this "ZEECK" to work with.

Well, the eBay one says it is made by Case in Little Valley NY. If your one is made in Germany they bear no relation, tho either could be a good razor once restored.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Just to make sure, its zeeck and not zeepk?

Exactly--that sounds suspiciously like Zeepk to me. Zeepk razors (or any razor that claims to be made in Pakistan) will never take a shaving edge. Some have taken to saying "made in Solingen" for that reason, but are really only assembled there--the blades are still cheap, ineffectual steel.
Your best bet is the classifieds here if you're buying used. New you could go to Classic Shaving or SRD or similar. Nice thing about SRD is blades are pre-honed shave ready for free.

Can you put up a picture of your razor? We could probably tell for even a poor quality photo if it is worth investigating further or having honed. Or, you might be able to find a member who is near to you who would be willing to look at it for you.

Thanked: 1263It sounds like a german razor rebranded for sale in the states...which was often done and nothing wrong with that. Please post pics of yours when you can and you'll get a better judgement on it. Seems to me like you may have a keeper though once its honed up...especially if its anything like the one in the pic you posted.
