Thanked: 2Getting a copy of Goins to the UK
I live in the UK. I would like to get a copy of Goins' Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings. I can't find anywhere in the UK that has it. The only company in the US that responded to my enquiries was Knife World Publications. They want $27.95 for the book, but $35.40 for Global Priority Mail. :-O
Does anybody know of a source in the UK or a cheaper way of getting it here?

I must say I'm really surprised that none of those evil piraters have put a copy online yet. God knows I've looked ( just so I can narc them out) I should add I bought my copy on Saturday and they charged me like $16 for shipping.

Thanked: 2If it is $16 in the US, then it doesn't sound like I will save much by having it posted on. Hmm.. will have to rethink this...

I was going to make the same "I'll ship it to you" offer as others have made, but you're right- by the time you pay for two postages, you'll be spending about the same.
Consider: If the Goins' hadn't self-published, if this book had been published by one of the educational imprints, it would have been priced at $50, or more. Would you want the book if it was selling at $50? If so, then consider the "postage" as being a reasonable $13.35.

I live in the US and I finally bit the bullet and bought a copy. For me it ended up being worth it because it did clear up some stuff on Hen & Rooster among others. I collect pocket knives too and the book was written more for knife collectors than razor aficionados IMHO. It doesn't have info on every company but it does have quite a bit. Chances are just posting a request for info on a particular razor will bring as much or more info than you'll get for your hard earned $ if you buy the book.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I rented mine out from my school's library. Before I send it back I think I'll just scan most of it - is that even legal?
Even if yours doesn't have it maybe it's possible to get from an inter-library loan
