Does single malt work best?

Gold bug I have sports transparent goldish yellow scales. Dunno if the one in question is original. I doubt it but I was wrong once before. One way or the other they are real good shavers IME so get it at reasonable price if you can.

As promised, here is a picture of the razor.

He gave it to me yesterday and after I took the picture I polished it and honed it up for him. I also did a test shave. Since I'm really new to all this, the honing takes me a long time and since I'm in the middle of a move I didn't have time to put as much effort down into the razor as I would have liked.
If I had more time I would have managed to get it sharper but It was still a great shave until I decided to try ATG. Let's just say that I'm not ready to go ATG yet. And upon further reading just now the second pass should be XTG not ATG!!!
