I probably wouldn't recommend it to you only because it's a 4/8s which is a little on the small side. Many of here use 4/8s with no problems and personally I like them but as a first razor I would say get a 5/8s. Also don't forget TI. They and Dovo are the two outfits producing razors continuously. Boker is newly at it again along with a few others.

The difference between 6/8 and 4/8 is really a big difference. If your budget is limited as you say and you are not sure you'd like a 4/8 razor, I would not suggest you buy a brand new one. A better route, IMO, would be to pick up an inexpensive vintage one to try it first.

Or you could try the 5/8 BQ or a 6/8 BQ or the Special (don't remember sizes on the special). I also really like the Black Star and the Red Bone. I think the BS or the RB is worth the extra money over the BQ.

They also have a 5/8 for the same price, but I'd like to know how much of a difference there is between these.

I've seen Dovo Bests for less $$ at The Superior Shave.

The only brand-new razor I've bought was a Dovo stainless. I've been happy with it.

Was your first shave with a straight razor?

I dont know what the cm size is but a 6/8 is 3/4 of an inch and a 4/8 is 1/2 of an inch. It may not sound like a lot but for a razor it is a huge differance.

Great choice. 5/8 is a much better size for your snakker razor.
