    Default Storing Carbon Steel Razors

Up to now, before putting a razor away somewhere safe, I have always given the scales an "internal" with a bit of tissue and the razor a wipe over with a piece of unwashed chamois leather to distribute hopefully some of the oil it was chrome-tanned in. So far so good.
I doubt though that this would offer much protection should I not use it for any length of time, and have read here that a smear of mineral oil works well --3in1?, and does not discolour the blade (gold washed) as vegetable oil may.
What about WD40? Far better I ask you than make an unholy howler, so in advance, my grateful thanks to you.

When I store for a long amount of time I use baby oil, it is cheap and easy to find. Any type of mineral oil would work though.

I would not use 3 in 1. Baby oil or other mineral oil or comillia oil are preferred. No food based oils as they go rancid. Tuf-Glide is also an option.
