I have considered it as well. Though I think I will probably have a portrait of my daughter done before I get one of a straight. My problem is finding the time to travel to a good portrait tattoo artist since it does not seem to be a strong area for the artists around here.

Troggie - My artist recently started doing portraits and offered to do my sons for free (practice). I usually never pass up a free tattoo but that is a risk I'm not even willing to take.

The really good and well known portrait tattoo artists are very expensive that's for sure. The best I've seen though is Nikko Hurtado.

    Good luck!

I believe Alex / Philadelph has a tattoo of the first razor he made. It should be in the Ink Slingers thread in the Finer Things area.

Yeah I love his work.. I was actually in LA last November but since my trip was last minute he was booked up with no way to fit me in. I may be heading back this November ( I find out around June/July ) and if so will definitely be making my appointment then.

His shop, Black Anchor Collection, is in Hesperia CA. He's only at LA Ink for the show. I've heard he is booked a year in advance. Even his website says to email for an appointment so there must be a lengthy waiting list.

holli4pirating - I really like davisbonanza's tattoo on the Ink Slinger thread. Thanks for the info.

A bit off topic, maybe, but Anil Gupta is one of the finest tatoo artists alive, and his portraits are simply amazing.

I'm saving to get a piece done by him, hopefully before I retire.

There are some more razor tattoos in this link in the Finer Things.
