Hibbard Spencer Razor Identification
Hi Al!
An old friend asked me to see what I could do about cleaning up his fathers razor and possible honing it so that he could use it. Now first and foremost, I don't have a digital camera! I'll try to be as detailed as I can.
My friends dad would have been about 80-85 years old today.
On what I would refer to as the Backside it says Hibbard Spencer. Below that it says Bartlett & Co. The other side has three Large Capital letters of;OVB over that is an oval and in that oval it says; Our Very Best. There is no country of origin.
The scales are rather unique in that there is only a pivot pin and the very small wedge at the toe end seems to have been glued as there isn't a pin. The scales are ivory colored with a vine running the length with a wreath in the middle. The are some sort of synthetic.
The blade is a square point hollow ground 5/8's as best as i can measure!
If anyone can help me identify my friends razor it would be very much appreciated!

From here:
HIBBARD, SPENCER, BARTLETT & CO
Chicago, Illinois
Trademarks used include: "OVB", "Our Very Best", "HibSpeBar", and "ReyONoc"
Now known as True Value Hardware
ca. 1855 - 1960
No country of origin suggests pre-1890. Pictures may well help further identification from other members (and are always nice to look at anyway).

HIBBARD, SPENCER, BARTLETT & CO razors were (at least at one stage) made in Germany.

Almost. You need to leave the '
' at the beginning and the '
' at the end, then type you reply either before or after them. Here is what your text quote above looks like in text (minus the " "'s'):

Thanked: 0Hello,
I have this same razor and am wondering if anyone knows the value of it. I received this from my uncle who was a barber for many years and would be in his 90's today. I'm not looking to sell this just curious of what it might be worth.
Thanks for any input.
