aye, the DOVO still gets the job done but my Torrey is like butter. Granted I know some here will tell you a Bengal does really well too but I found mine not very forgiving on being off angle at all, although it will glide through the thickest of hair.

Now all my blades are different sizes so that may make a difference for each person. I don't doubt someone could come to my house and use all my supplies and pick different favorites.

I just think sometimes the difference in performance goes beyond who honed it.

It's great that all of you are finding differences in razors and their shaving characteristics. Now that you have found differences in edges go for it and enjoy. In a few weeks, months or what ever it takes you will find that the person honing your razor and the type of day they are having will effect your razor's shave quality to a level that you are experiencing now, as Holli stated above.

I have lots of razors and a few of the same make. I can tell you that some of the razors of the same make shave better than others. I hone all of my own razors with a few exceptions. I attribute the difference in shave quality to my experience in honing since these razors were purchased and honed over a period of time even though some of the earlier honed razors shave better than the newer ones, the type of day I was having and how much time I could put into honing and lastly the variance in heat treating, tempering and metallurgy. In the end I have a strong belief based on proof that on the razors I went back to hone, they shaved much better even though they shaved good to begin with.

Long story short, good razors and a good honing makes a great shave. If it's a good razor and you think it can shave better send it back to the hones.
