NOS Filarmonica Corte Cabello
Hello All,
I just received my Filarmonica Corte Cabello razor. It has some sort of black rubber around the tang of the blade which unfortunately has stained the scales black.
What I'm wondering, and don't tease me for being silly, is whether I'm supposed to remove the rubber? I assume I am but I just want to be sure.
My second question is what purpose does such a rubber piece serve?
Thanks,
Stultsy

Better grip. I'd leave it and clean the scales.

Thanked: 1195As was just mentioned, yes the intended function is grip. Whether or not you want to remove it is purely a matter of aesthetics. I've never had a razor with a rubber covered tang, but I believe most guys do cut it off.

It's your razor, so do what makes you happy. But the rubber is original to the razor, and if you take it off you can't put it back on. I would leave it on, as I believe it was intended to be left there.

Leave it on, it is there to provide extra grip. And it works very vell at that. It makes the flip easier on the strop as well.
I have the same on a few Especial para barbas duras I own. I like the rubber thingy on them.
The only one of mine who has discolored the scales is a green one. I have no idea why, all the others show no sign of it.
On the black ones I honestly don't know if it has leaked color, but it wouldn't show anyway.
What color are your scales?Last edited by Birnando; 03-31-2011 at 09:15 PM.

Thanked: 1263Personally I'd leave it on..its there for a reason and adds charachter to that razor. I wouldn't think of taking mine off my EPBD unless it got all ratty looking. But in the end it's really up to you and what you like
And like Ryan said..pics! lol

Hey,
I've decided that I will be leaving the rubber on the tang.
The scales are red Birnando.
I'm at work but I took some phone pictures. As soon as they come through on my email I'll upload them. It's painfully slow for some reason

Puma used to use the rubber too. The only issue is if you get it wet it's near impossible to get under the rubber to dry it off and over time it will turn black.
