    Apart from shaving I have used a straight-razor to...

    ...pick apart stitching on a piece of clothing.

    ...slice open packaging on stuff that was vacuum-sealed in plastic.

    ...cut string.

    Years ago, when I was young I used my Ucle warren's staight to skin a badger I killed. If I remember, he was not totally pleased with that. He had to hone it and strop it all over again.

    You should have made him a brush out of the hair to smooth over the situation!
