Razor Makers in Germany
I had no idea that there were so many razor makers to come out of Solingen Germany. This link: Razor makers Provides names and models along with what area/town they were from. I had no idea that C. Friedrich Ern made so many different models. If it has been posted elsewhere, I'm sorry, but for someone new, I thought it would prove very educational.

Well, now I know who made my Platypus. Had no idea it was Ern.

It would be quite difficult to collect an example from each maker. There would be some that would be more plentiful, and some that probably are only a few examples left. I'm just speculating on the latter, but would stand to reason that some, like DOVO, Ern, and others were more prolific in production, and like Boker, J. A. Henckels and DOVO still in production today, where some may have made only a few razors over their production times.

According to the list, C. Friedrich Ern also made the 'Knight Commander of the Bath'.
That's got to be the most interesting name for a razor I've ever seen.

Between Tom having those German papers and this link, it might help some of those that are wondering where their razor actually came from.
I think I'll have to find a signature gif file for Geo. Wolestenholm (have 2) and GOTTA, or Grah & Plumacher. *S* sorry if off topic a bit.Last edited by Gibbs; 04-29-2011 at 07:52 PM.
