    Default How to take care about leather scales?

    It depends in what condition they are in now. If they are falling apart there isn't much you can do. it's no different than any other leather product. Keep it clean and dry and use conditioner. These days they have special leathers and treated leathers that are actually water resistant but back then they didn't and moisture and leather don't mix.

    What do you think about Wet-Prufl?
    It is a Heavy duty silicone protection, works great on boots in harsh Canadian winter.

    The condition actually pretty good, only a small part in the pivot area is kinda fluffy, otherwise they are like new.

    I'd try a leather wax to help waterproof and maintain the scales.
