Magnaflux is not a heat threating process but an inspection process. It's a dye that is used to detect cracks in the metal. Here is a link: MAGNAFLUX: Penetrant Inspection

+1 to that. I have the blocks on engines I've rebuilt magnafluxed to make sure that it's worth rebuilding. If the block is cracked there's no sense dropping a grand or more into a rebuild.

Regarding the razors, then as now magnetism has been associated with all kinds of wonders from hair growth to cancer fighting. Want to feel better? Wear a magnetic bracelet. Stress in your neck? Rub magnetic plates over it. Want a better shave? Use a magnetic razor to literally lift the minerals in your hair! (I don't know if that's how they marketed the razors in specific, but I have seen the others specifically marketing magnetic objects as remedies.)

I doubt they do anything for the shaving, but I'm sure it was claimed at the time. Otherwise why take the time to do it?

Be careful if you have any metal filling in your teeth. It'll pull them right out.

@Rostfrei I shave exclusively with straight razor's though admittedly I still have alot to learn!

Side note, the blade really is magnetic! I found that odd, but I wonder if there is a purpose to that or its just a by product of production/honing. Let me know if you have experience with it!
Thanks. I'm probably considered fairly new @ here as far as shaving goes, < 5 yrs. I'm confident in my shaving & don't have to think about it much. I have quite a bit to learn in the honing dept though.
