If it was stable and snug enough to live with, I would keep it as is.

But, as always PPP (Personal Preference Prevails).

Love the big Sheffields. Ah hell I love all the Sheffields. They shave so smooth. Great looking razor.

Congrats, that razor is a true beauty.
Finding such an old one in such a nice condition is a rare occurrence, enjoy.

nice score! If that back scale is stable on the pivot I would keep it as well. Nice pressed horn scales and retains the history.

I would actually avoid using MAAS on the front though. It can be pretty aggressive and you may loose that etch. I personally like mothers polish on these with a very light touch. That one is in great condition and should make a fine shaver.

Everything about that razor is awesome; the style, the etch, the scales. I agree with holli, in your restoration at least keep the show side handle.

I have a few like this in different sizes - all are good razors and I would agree that keeping the scales is a good idea - unless you ever come across another with a busted front scale and a good back one!

Awesome razor that can easily get back to its former glory. Thanks for sharing and enjoy!
