Thanked: 15Sharps: I have a similar razor. Last week I was ready for the restoration of this. Today I tried, it's fantastic. Very gentle and very sharp.

Sorry to revive a thread almost 3 years old but I just picked up a Manhattan Cutlary Co. Razor today. This one had inlayed horn scales and scalloped spine on inlayed side only. It had a pretty sharp edge as it was, could cut hair on arm but a nice bit of rust along bevel. Someone also got a little carried away with a dremel and sanding wheel or the like.
I removed the scales and have them soaking in neetsfoot oil to revive them a bit and think I am going to try and salvage them. I hand sanded for a couple hours just to get a fresh layer of steel and see how far I want to take it. I will see how a bevel set goes and decide weather I will sand out the pitiful pearling job. Let me know what you think?

She's rough, but consider that the scales could be fixed with epoxy, but soaking them in oil won't help the epoxy stick. Best to sand, epoxy, sand, epoxy until right. If you are going to go black, add some india ink to the epoxy. As you get it all smooth, you can ink the whole thing, then oil if you like. The blade will need some compounds or lots of hand work.
Get it on......."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Mine takes a very fine edge although not as fancy as yours.
It is just Whisker Whacking
Relax and Enjoy!
