I picked this razor up at a resale shop for 12 bucks for my next project .Its marked Manhattan cutlery made in Sheffield and is a full wedge.Does anyone have an idea when this razor may have been made?
As always thank you for your help

I would say mid 1800's to 1890's. Nice find!

I rest my case.

That sounds about right. I shaved with one this morning. Honed by Lynn and holds a nice edge. I think you'll like it.

Trademark Manhattan Cutlery Co. was used by H.Boker & Co, Solingen since 1868 till 1906.

Sorry, but you're wrong.
Manhattan Cutlery Co. and Manhattan Cutlery Co., Sheffield are H.Boker trademarks, 1868-1906.Alex Ts.

I looked for some info about razors for an article. And I've made some findings.
From H.Boker & Co. history:
"1868 - Knives marked for the Manhattan Cutlery Co.
were imported from Sheffield, England, until 1916."
John R.Watts, 1855-1919, located at the Lambert Works, Lambert Street, Sheffield. He used "Manhattan Cutlery Co., Sheffield" trademark too.
So, very possible, that during 1868-1906, he made razors and knives for H.Boker & Co.Last edited by manah; 08-04-2011 at 10:50 PM.

Being that this one is a full wedge would this have been made all the way up to the end production date.I know the hollow ground razors came out later but were there still a lot of wedges being made also after people began using the hollow ground razors ? Thank you
