My little invention
I wanted a clean, easy way to apply mineral oil to my razors without wasting paper towels/tissues or getting oil on my fingers. So I bough an antique ink well for a few bucks, filled it with oil and stuck a piece of a soft and fluffy cotton sock in it as a wick. Now all i have to do is wipe my blade on it after shaving and i don't have to worry about rust or accidental splashes from the sink as I like to keep this little display on my bathroom counter. Maybe people already do this, i don't know, but i thought i'd share just in case.

That's pretty ingenious. I would think that a standard alcohol lamp would work in a similar way.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanked: 522I have always kept my oil in a dropper bottle and spread the oil with my fingers but I think you have a good idea there. Just like an alchohol lamp. Smart thinking.....

Thanked: 522Also there was recently an idea put forth that had a jar about 4 inches tall filled to the 3 inch mark with alchohol and mineral floating on top of the alchohol. Then you would vertically submerge the razor into the oil and alchohol.
Then as you raised the razor up and out of the jar, the oil on top of the alchohol would automatically coat the blade with mineral oil as it was raised up out of the jar. I am sure someone will remember this old post. I have tried this and it actually works at least to some extent.
